My name is Eira. I have been in the field of software testing since 2002, when I more or less randomly landed a summer intern position as a tester in a software company, and found that I both enjoyed the work and seemed to have a knack for it. Apparently, the company agreed, because they asked me to stay on. Since then, I’ve worked to make software better, and to make myself better at making software better, though I switched to another company along the way.
By education, I’m a computational linguistics master, with a minor in information science and some random classes in topics like formal logic, that just happened to catch my interest along the way. I’ve never had a career plan beyond what seemed to be the sensible and/or most interesting thing to do at the time. I’m pretty happy with where I am and what I’m doing. Except, of course, the days where I wonder what the f I’m doing with my life and research what kind of training I need to become a gardener instead.
